One eye in a book, one watching the world. Two perspectives that melt into one, two perceptions that freeze as one. This sweet warmth of sun, and the cheeky breeze of winter that dance like the waves of the ocean, but not unfamiliar with one another as they do not move stiffly like a sheet of ice. The fresh smell of parchment, crisp and inky, as a note of life is taken.
The Oceanus Fountain at the Rockfeller Estate in New York
This fountain depicts Oceanus, the Titan god of the great world-encompassing river Okeanos. He stands with the three great rivers, Nile, Eridanus and Styx (who is not visible from this angle). He is also depicted at the Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy.
According to Hesiod’s Theogony, Oceanus fathered every river on Earth, every fountain and every lake.
So here are some of my first sketches of Tris, from Divergent. Just trying to get used to drawing her since I LOVED the book. Which I find a bit tricky, because Tris always states that she’s too plain to be pretty, and the other characters don’t deny it. :/ Mostly she says she looks childlike, with nice eyes, but they’re too big and a long nose and blond hair. Ah well, they did describe her as “striking” once, which to me can also be known as beautiful. c:
